Photo of the Day: Remembering Sharpeville

2014-03-20 17:58

Cape Town – So, tomorrow is Human’s Rights Day, and today’s Photo of the Day is linking to that.

It all began in Sharpeville, a township situated in Gauteng. The Sharpeville massacre, one of the most brutal massacres South Africa has ever seen, took place there on 21 March 1960.

Human Rights Day is a day that has been set aside to commemorate the lives that were lost on that tragic day. The day also serves to remind us of the our history, and how we should constantly strive to make this country a better place, and treat one another with Ubuntu.

With that, we at News24 Travel would like to wish you a happy long weekend!!
