Condor will soon operate 2 weekly return Frankfurt/Cape Town flights.
The direct flights out of Frankfurt will depart on Tuesdays and
Saturdays and flights out of Cape Town on Wednesdays and Sundays.
According to IOL,
the flight is set to be seasonal service start from 3 November. It
comes in response to Lufthansa’s decision to fly from Cape Town to
Munich instead of
Frankfurt this summer caused by a ban on late-night arrivals and
departures from Frankfurt following complaints about noise.
According to South Africa.net passengers
will benefit from convenient overnight connections with flights
departing from Frankfurt at 22:05 on Tuesdays, and 20:40 on Saturdays,
arriving in Cape Town at 10:50 and 09:25 respectively the following day.
The
Wednesday flight leaving Cape Town will depart at 23:20 arriving in
Frankfurt at 10:20 the following day, with the Sunday flight departing
from Cape Town at 18:55 and arriving in Frankfurt at 05:55.
Condor is owned by the
international tour company Thomas Cook and describes itself on its website as being a 'no frills'
airline. It will operate a Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the route, configured
into economy, premium economy and business-class seats.
Condor’s
long-haul flights offer three classes: economy, premium economy and
“comfort” (business class). It flies more than six million passengers to
about 75 destinations worldwide every year. Unlike Lufthansa, it will
not have a general manager and full staff in this country but has
appointed
Aviareps, based in Sandton, as its general sales agent.
‘As
Germany's most popular leisure carrier, we want everyone we take on
vacation to get their money's worth,' said Achim Lameyer, Condor’s
vice-president of sales. 'South Africa is extremely popular as a
vacation destination and belongs in Condor's flight plan.’
Condor flights
can be booked online on the Condor website. All inclusive one-way fares
out of Frankfurt start from €378 (about R3 987) in economy class, €578
(about R6 096) in premium economy and €1 488 (about R15 695) in business
class.
