7 gravity-defying AfriSki pics - How did they do that?!

Cape Town - When you think of a skiing holiday, the African continent very rarely springs front of mind.

But deep in the Maloti mountains you'll find Afriski Mountain Resort - the only ski destination in Lesotho.

The resort has literally carved a niche for itself, by giving those who want to try a bit of skiing, snowboarding or simply a bit of acclimatisation to snow conditions.

This past weekend it hosted the Afriski #WinterWhip snowboarding JAM, with competitors from all over the world heading to its Kapoko Park to compete.

Check out these amazing pics of the event sent in to us. All photos by Afriski photographer Shawn van Zyl. For full details visit: www.afriski.net, Facebook.com/resort.afriski

Off to a smooth start.

We have to wonder how this move ended!?

Okay, this is a lot of snow swag.

No words...

Just your every day ski move, no!?

Dang. Just flip it and reverse it then!

...and a few bonus shots - The winners of the Winter Whip.

Full view of the ramp.

The crowd.

The entertainment.

Even pets are welcome.
