Accommodation with fireplaces

2013-06-05 09:00
While summer seems to be the chosen season to take a good long break, we think there's a lot to love about a winter holiday too.

It's the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the ones you love and catch up on all those books you were meaning to read in December... but never got round to.

But one thing that makes any winter break even more awesome, is the presence of a fireplace! Here's a little round up of accommodation across the country with fireplaces.

Agulhas National Park chalets, Agulhas

The beautiful wooden chalets in Agulhas National Park's main rest camp are pretty much the perfect location for a sea-side winter break. They're cosy, beautiful, overlook the ocean and located in pristine coastal fynbos surrounds. You can opt for either a two-bedroom or a four-bedroom chalet. They all have fireplaces in the lounge area and comfy couches to match.

Antbear Guesthouse, Drakensberg

Overlooking the Bushmans River and Giants Castle, this whitewashed, thatched cottage provides affordable accommodation for intimate groups. According to the Antbear website it's a place for feeding your soul and rekindling your spirit. "Built in the 1940's the quaint and charming cottage puts its arms around you and reminds you that there are things more important than everyday life," it reads.

The communal fireplace encourages visitors to gather together and share some warmth, while relaxing in each other's company.

During the coldest winter months, Hogsback is also one of South Africa's hotspots for snow, so keep watching the weather and book a white wonderland retreat!

Granny Mouse's fireplace is also located in the communal lounge area.
