CNTraveller: World's best cities

Cape Town has made it into the number two slot of the world best cities - according to 8-million votes cast by Conde Nast traveller readers.

Cape Town - Tourists visiting Cape Town can now tap a new perspective of the city with a Walking Tour of Central Cape Town mobile phone application.

According to Tourism Update, Cape Town Tourism, in partnership with Tourism Radio, has produced the Walking Tour of Central Cape Town mobile phone application.

Tourism Radio CEO Mark Allewell, says the app gives users the opportunity to experience Cape Town from a different angle.

It features quality audio and text information about dozens of tourist attractions around the city. Audio clips play automatically as the user gets in the vicinity of specific points of interest; creating a seamless dialogue as the user walks around.

“Today’s urban travelers are highly pedestrian. Not content to see and hear things from behind the windows of a tour bus, they are engaging with the streets and the people on them. Cape Town Tourism’s commitment to digital marketing stands firm as we continue to unlock the destination through digital and social media platforms,” says Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold.

The app will be available on the iPhone from October 25.
