Cableway closed for maintenance

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway in Cape Town will close between July 22 and August 25 to undergo annual maintenance.

Tourism Update reports that the usual two-week closure has been extended to five weeks because the main DC (direct current) drive will be replaced by an AC (alternating current) drive and the motor and both cable cars will undergo a six-yearly overhaul. Technicians will examine the cable cars and perform hydraulic testing and general maintenance.
