Cape Town: designated firework areas

Cape Town - With pyro-lovers gearing up to celebrate Guy Fawkes tonight, the City of Cape Town has appealed to Capetonians to be cautious if participating in the event and report firework displays in places other than designated areas.

Eight public areas have been designated to discharge fireworks during Guy Fawkes Day Celebrations on Monday.

These areas are:

- Bishop Lavis Sportsfield
- Wesfleur Sportsfield in Atlantis 
- Macassar Beach parking area
- Swartklip Sports Complex in Mitchells Plain
- Maidens Cove parking area in Camps Bay
- Athlone Stadium parking area
- Strandfontein Pavilion
- Beachfront in Table View.

The eight sites will be monitored by authorities and Mayor Paticia de Lille said she had asked metro police to act against those not obeying the rules.
