Cape Town road closures for Two Oceans Marathon

Cape Town - Several roads will be closed in Cape Town's CBD for the annual Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon that will take place on Saturday, 19 April.

IMPACT OF ROAD CLOSURES
Union Avenue (M3): Rhodes Drive to UCT
Time: Friday 18 April 2014, 12h30 - 18h00, Saturday 19 April 2014, 04h30 -14h00
Impact: Left shoulder and lane will be coned and fenced off for athletes. Right lane will remain open at all times for motorists travelling towards Cape Town.
Rhodes Memorial Restaurant will be accessible to the public

Parking Restrictions
Residents in the following areas are requested not to park along the route and to use alternative side streets for the duration of the race:
• Main Road (M4) between Klipper and San Souci Roads
• Protea Road from the Main Road (M4) to Edinburgh Drive (M3)
• Main Road (M4) from Atlantic Road, Muizenberg through St James and Kalk Bay to the police station just past Clovelly Road in Fish Hoek
• Kommetjie Road (M65) from 17th Avenue through to the Fish Hoek Circle (runners will be running towards Sun Valley facing the traffic within one lane which will be coned off)

DETOURS
Route: Union Avenue (M3):
Road name: Southbound Carriageway between Princess Anne and Ladies Mile
Time: 05h30 to 08h00
Detour: With the M4 between Letterstedt and Gabriel Roads also closed, traffic is advised to use the M5 as an alternate route.

Road name: Constantia Main Road (M41) towards Wynberg
Time: 05h30 to 08h00x
Impact: Traffic from Hout Bay will be directed in via Pagasvlei Road and Spaanschemat River Road to the M3 and Constantia Road, and then to Claremont and Wynberg via Alphen hill Road (Victoria Hospital)

Road name: Constantia Main Road (M41) towards Hout Bay
Time: 05h30 to 08h00
Impact: Traffic to Hout Bay will be directed from Edison Road and Ladies Mile Road to Spaanschemat River Road and Pagasvlei Road to Constantia Road.

Route: Main Road (M4)
Road names: Muizenberg to Fish Hoek
Time: 07h00 to 09h15
Impact: Traffic to use Ou Kaapse Weg (M64) where a Stop / Go system will be in place. Expect delays that might be quite long in order to allow runners to pass.

Route: Main Road (M4)
Road names: Between Beach Road/Sunray Road and Kommetjie Road/Simonstown Road
Time: 07h00 to 09h15
Impact: Traffic officers will be in place at the Kommetjie Road/Main Road Circle and motorists travelling from/towards Kommetjie Road will be diverted via Beach Road between Simonstown Road and Main Road (at the Caltex Garage).

Road names: Kommetjie Road (M65), Fish Hoek
Time: 07h00 to 10h00
Impact: From Fish Hoek Circle (intersection Main, Kommetjie and Simonstown Roads) to Corsair Drive, Sun Valley, runners will use the West Bound (direction Kommetjie) lane and motorists will share the East Bound (direction Fish Hoek) lane.

Road names: Ou Kaapse Weg (M64) and Noordhoek Main Road Intersection
Time: 07h00 to 10h00
Impact: Stop / Go control for both runners and vehicles at the intersection of Ou Kaapse Weg and Noordhoek Main Road. Expect delays that may be quite long.

Route: Hout Bay Main Road (M63)
Road names: Chapman’s Peak to Victoria Road Circle
Time: 07h30 to 11h30
Impact: Traffic coming into Hout Bay will be detoured away from Victoria Road Circle to Valley and then Disa River Roads. Runners will be on the right side of the road.

Route: Rhodes Drive (M63)
Road names: From Canterbury Road Circle to Union Ave
Time: 04h00 to 13h00
Impact: Stop / Go system both directions between 04h00 and 06h30. From 06h30 – 13h00 Traffic may only travel south. Runners will be in the northbound lane. Please note: Kirstenbosch Gardens & Restaurant will be accessible to the public.

Route: M3 Northbound
Time: 06h30 to 14h00
Impact: Please note that the M3 Northbound will remain open to traffic for the duration of the event. Traffic to proceed with caution between Newlands Ave and UCT.
