Cape Town tops prestigious NY Times travel list for 2014

2014-01-10 23:16
Cape Town - The New York Times has released its biggest travel list yet - 52 places to go in 2014 - and Cape Town is front and centre in the Number1 spot.

Take a bow, Mother City, take a bow.

As Design Capital of the World and the most poignant place to reflect on the iconic legacy of the late Nelson Mandela, added to the city's diversity and close proximity to a number of different attractions, a variety of travel styles are easily satisfied during a visit here.

But the NY Times inclusion is just one of the many hat tips Cape Town has received this year - including our own 21 places you want to visit in 2014 round-up.

In total, six places dotted across the African continent made the NY Times cut, with Namibia at number 6, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at number 13; Laikipia Plateau, Kenya at at number 19; the Seychelles at number 27 and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania coming in at number 39.
