Farmers seek romance with road sign help

Bloemfontein - A group of young Free State farmers seem to be putting the famous Afrikaans phrase "'n boer maak ‘n plan" (a farmer makes a plan) into practice with their creative ploy to attract potential wives.
Beeld reports that a bold new sign reading "Bachelor road. Singles welcome" has been erected next to the R701 between Wepener and Smithfield, the gravel road which runs past the farms of five eligible, single farmers from the Welbedachtdam area.
Stefan Joubert (31), Stiaan Grobler (23) his brother, Werner (26), Rudo Opperman (22) and Roelf Jacobs (36) told the paper that they had no idea where the desperate cry for love came from, but that they hope that it might attract the right one.
While the R701 may be a rather quiet little road year round, December sees traffic pick up as holiday-makers stream to the Cape. However, the group insists that they're open to receiving female visitors at an earlier date as well.
They added that any interested parties should heed the sign, turn off onto the road and check in at the first farm on the left side of the road. Alternatively they can send an email to roadbachelor@gmail.com
