Everybody across South Africa and the world wants to pay their respects to the memory and life legacy of Nelson Mandela who passed away on 5 December.

Here are the key events taking place across South Africa and the need-to-know travel advisory information - state authorities will be updating throughout the week in the run up to Madiba's funeral on Sunday the 15 December2013 in his home town of Qunu.

Wednesday 11 December: Nelson Mandela's body to lie in state until Friday 13 December
Nelson Mandela's body was moved from Military Hospital at 07:00 on Wednesday to the Union Buildings. The Mandela family will open the viewing from 10am and members of the public will be allowed to file past Madiba's body from 12:00 until 17:30 each day. Mandela's body will be moved on Saturday to his home town of Qunu for his official State funeral on Sunday (15 December 2013).

The City of Cape Town invites the public to pay tribute to the life of the late Nelson Mandela at a Tribute concert - Nelson Mandela: A Life Celebrated.  Local artists Freshlyground, Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo are expected to pay tribute to Madiba at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday, 11 December 2013. The commemorative concert starts at 16:00 (doors open at 14:00) and runs until 23:00.

Coupons needed to be collected in order to access to this event and the city has asked members of the public to attend the Live Screen on the Grand Parade if they were unable to secure a coupon. Similarly members of the public who have spare coupons have been asked to share with those who do not have.

Saturday 14 December: Madiba's body will be moved to Qunu.
