Wetu simplifies content for tour operators

2012-08-20 11:43

South African travel industry content system, Wetu, has developed a new Application Programming Interface (API) that could revolutionise the way tour operators manage content on their sites.

Quality content sells travel. However collating, managing and updating supplier content is a time consuming and on-going task for Tour Operators and as a result the majority of them supply insufficient content to satisfy the modern buyer. This means potential clients are forced to look at competitors or go directly to the product to find this content.

The new Content API will allow tour operators to display up-to-date indepth rich content on their websites without them having to manage the content.

Co-founder and owner of Wetu, Paul de Waal explains: "the new Content API will allow any person selling travel in Africa to access our database of updated rich content. At present the outdated and fragmented ‘silo' approach to content effectively means that every tour operator has to liaise with each and every one of their supplier regarding content - resulting in a huge duplication of work."

Wetu allows the supplier to input their content in their ‘cloud based' system and then gives anyone that wants this content access it via an API.

The Wetu Supplier Content API will supply the following content:-
• Images
• Description
• Videos
• Virtual Tours
• Room types, images & descriptions
• Facilities / Activities
• General Product Information

Using the Wetu Content API a tour operator eliminates one of their biggest and growing challenges - how to collate, manage and up-date quality content so as to compete effectively online.

Tour Operators can now focus on marketing and selling travel and not wasting time and effort managing content.
