Scotland rugby team tackles some real sharks

2013-06-06 12:59
News24 Travel Reader John Miller went shark cage diving with the Scotland Rugby team off the Natal South Coast from Rocky Bay, Park Rynie. Take a look.

During the dive, the team had the opportunity to get a closer look at a variety of sharks, including Black Tips, Dusky and Spinner Sharks. Whereas the Western Cape waters are a popular spot to view Great White sharks, they are not a common occurence during dives off the KZN coast.

"The guys arrived at 6:30am all very excited about the dive, they were with us for about three hours, we had 20 of them and went out on two boats."

"We had very clean water and lots of sharks and when the sharks arrived at the boat we could see the change and excitement in their faces. They could not wait to get into the cage."

"All there minds have been changed about sharks and rate it as the best thing they have done on Tour. On the way home we saw a huge pod of Dolphins which added to the excitement."

"They are very friendly and some really big guys. They even signed some shirts for people on the beach and took  loads of photo's, they are playing Samoa on Saturday and it is going to be a double game with South Africa playing Italy."
