Cape Town - Luke Dale-Roberts, owner of Cape Town dining destinations The Test Kitchen and The Pot Luck Club & Gallery, has been awarded Best Restaurant of the Year at the 2012 Eat Out Dstv Food Network Restaurant Awards for his well-loved eatery in South Africa's most prestigious restaurant awards.
South Africa's top chefs once again celebrated in style at the 2012 Eat Out Dstv Food Network Restaurant Awards, held this evening at The Westin Cape Town. With his trademark down-to-earth nature, Luke offered sincere thanks to his well-honed brigade of chefs who together with their talented leader tirelessly work to bring his culinary concepts to fruition at his world-class eateries.
Having just returned from Swiss ski resort Verbier where he has been busy with a seasonal pop up version of his second venture The Pot Luck Club & Gallery, Luke was understandably thrilled to arrive back in time to receive his award at this evening's gala dinner which pitted the country's finest chefs and restaurants against each other for the accolade of best of the best in South Africa.
Opening its doors in late 2010, The Test Kitchen has had a full reservations book since its inception with bookings now taken months in advance. Not one to rest on his laurels however, 2011 saw Luke open The Pot Luck Club & Gallery next door and it has achieved similar success thanks to the innovative Asian-influenced menu of shared tapas style dishes.
In a recent move, Luke has decided to shift things around -incorporating this next door space into The Test Kitchen and moving The Pot Luck Club & Gallery to a larger space within The Old Biscuit Mill where up to 100 guests will be able to enjoy the spoils on offer. Both eateries have thus doubled their capacity. Opening in January 2013, the new no-doubt equally designtastic Pot Luck space will certainly be the city's new dining destination du jour.
Fans will be thrilled to hear the new The Pot Luck Club will now be open for Sunday lunch and will also offer a daytime Champagne lunch menu.
With his recent expansion in the Cape Town culinary scene, forays to the Swiss Alps, an extensive range of gourmet Christmas products on shelf at Woolworths and now his No 1 position at this year's Eat Out Dstv Food Network Restaurant Awards win there's no doubt that Luke Dale-Roberts star is not just travelling upwards, it's on a supersonic trajectory.
