South Africa - The Ultimate Braai Master, hosted by bush-cook guru Justin Bonello, is a major coup for South Africa as the series will be screened to over 100 million people in over 280 territories, and translated into 22 languages around the world.

The new series kicks off on The Travel Channel on Tuesday at 19:00. It sees fifteen teams of two pitted against each other in the search for the barbecue king of the grill - but as the food begins to sizzle so do the tempers - proving that if you can't stand the heat of the barbie you should put down the tongs.

So how exactly will the top braai master reveal their true talent?

Each team will compete across a variety of gruelling outdoor cooking challenges throughout an extreme 52-day, 8 000km road trip. The winning team will collect a prize of half a million Rand, a brand new SUV and the title of South Africa's very first Ultimate Braai Master.

For the start of the epic culinary journey, teams find themselves on the banks of the Orange River.

Other highlights in the series include the seaside town of Lambert's Bay, well-known for its West Coast beaches, wild life and rock lobsters. It's here that teams will have to replicate a top outdoor seafood restaurant's entire menu - on a braai.

Teams also get the taste of luxury at the five-star Table Bay Hotel in the Mother City where a gourmet braai performance is expected.

Potential braai masters also pay the coastal seaside town of Hout Bay a visit before heading to the semi-desert natural region of the small Karoo town of Matjiesfontein for the 5th leg of their epic 8 000km braai road trip.

From there it's on to Cape St Francis, on the south-east coast of South Africa. It's a small coastal town prone to good swell, which makes it a chukka (calamari) fishing hotspot. After enjoying a typical Calamari & Chips lunch, presenter Justin Bonello reveals that the braai buddies will go out to sea to get their first taste of fishing for calamari.

Those who make it through will then travel from the Wild Coast to the hustle and bustle of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, the Natal Midlands as well as the Golden Gate National Park on the edge of the Maluti Mountains which has just been named a World Heritage Site.

A few emotional elimination rounds aside, the season will culminate at Sun City Resort, in the bushveld of South Africa's North West province and surrounded by the imposing mountains of the Pilanesberg.

Don't miss their epic culinary journey across the length and breadth of South Africa or the smorgasbord of hot challenges that redefines the rules that govern cooking on an open fire.
