Cape Town - Living in a tourist hotspot such as South Africa, it’s easy to become blind to the awesomeness of the place you call home.

Take a look at the latest South African Tourism’s video that has gone viral to see exactly what we mean.

Even more so, when home is a city like Cape Town – listed on a number of prestigious Top places to visit in 2014 lists.

Cape Town Tourism CEO Enver Duminy joined News24 Live in studio to talk about the cities booming tourist numbers - Watch the video here.

- Comedy: The Cape Town Jive Funny Festival 2014 from 26 May – 22 June

- Food Lovers Events: Good Food & Wine Show 2014 from 29 May – 1 June whilst “The Story of Food”, an official World Design Capital project, runs from mid-May to mid-October 2014

- Wedding Planning Events: The South African Wedding Show 2014 will take place from 6 – 8 June

- Literary Festivals:  South African Book Fair 2014 from 13 – 15 June

- Fashion: Mercedes – Benz Cape Town Fashion Week 2014 24 – 26 July

- Creative: Open Design Cape Town 2014 will run from 13 – 23 August, Creative Week Cape Town from 15 – 21
September, and the Cape Town Fringe - Festival from 25 September to 5 October

- World Design Capital projects, including “Beautiful Things: From Tradition to Modernity”, (a look at aesthetically pleasing products) also run throughout the winter months.

Just beyond Cape Town, in the countryside and small towns are a number of events well worth a visit:

- The Pick ‘n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival 2014 from 4 – 13 July

- The Franschhoek Bastille Festival 2014 on 12th and 13th July

- Robertson Slow 2014 from 8 – 10 August

- The Gravity Adventure Festival 2014 from 15 – 17 August

- Franschhoek Uncorked 2014 on 27 and 28 September
