Cape Town - The internationally acclaimed five-star Ellerman House hotel in Bantry Bay has been awarded the Food24 South African Wine List Award in the category ‘Best Long List'.

The hotel is a member of Relais Chateaux and entered the winning wine list during its inaugural year. The award has been created by Michael Olivier and Michael Bamfield Duggan (Owner of Wine Concepts and Restaurateur) and is independently judged.

MJ Birch, curator of the Ellerman House wine list has long nurtured a remarkable collection of South African wines, consisting of over six thousand bottles kept in the cellars that span the length of the hotel under the house. His dedication and passion for South African wine has resonnated with Ellerman House's guests and this award is a testament to this.

"We have an incredible selection of purely South African wine, as well as a large selection of vintages. Our oldest vintage in the cellar is a 1980 and the collection is completed with the most recent releases which are kept back in our maturation cellar until they reach their optimal drinking age. Guests have access to a major collection that caters to the tastes of most pallettes"
