Bomb attack kills three Iraqis

Baqouba - Attackers set off a bomb outside the house of a police official, killing three members of his family and wounding three others on Saturday north of Baghdad, while gunmen attacked the mayor of a nearby town, wounding a policeman, officials said.
The bomb attack came in the town of Habhab, 20km north of Baqouba, with the blast hitting the home of a police non-commissioned officer, Muayyad Ayad.
Two women and a male relative were killed, said Nasser Jawad, a doctor at Baqouba Hospital.
In the town of Muqdadiyah, 35km north of Baqouba, three gunmen opened fire on the house of the town mayor, sparking a gunbattle with his security guards. One policeman was wounded.
Baqouba, 40km north of Baghdad, is in the so-called Sunni triangle, the heartland of the anti-United States guerrilla insurgency, which has targeted American troops as well as Iraqis seen a working with the US-led occupation.
