Baghdad, Iraq - Clashes between US forces and insurgents in the troubled city of Fallujah left at least 10 people dead and 19 wounded, hospital officials said on Sunday.
The casualties occurred during fighting in the eastern part of the city late on Saturday and early Sunday, Dr Wissam Abdul Rahman of Fallujah General Hospital told The Associated Press.
The US military could not immediately be reached for comment.
Huge explosions were heard late on Saturday in the city, west of Baghdad. Hospital officials said 19 others, including a child, were injured, while men bellowed through mosque speakers for doctors to go to hospitals and people to donate blood.
US forces said on Saturday they killed 20 Iraqi insurgents in Fallujah on Thursday and Friday in an earlier round of fighting.
