London - A British student was arrested and charged on Saturday in connection with a hoax telephone call warning of a bomb on the same day that London was hit by four deadly explosions.
Anthony Ellitts, a 19-year-old student, was accused of giving false information to emergency services which led to the evacuation of pubs, houses, a church and a bus station in the town of Stourbridge in central England.
Bomb disposal experts blew up a backpack that had been left in a dustbin.
Ellitts was refused bail.
In a separate incident a man of 28 was charged with raising a false alarm after a suspect package was found in a supermarket in Birmingham, in the English midlands.
The package was blown up.
