Sana’a - Fifteen women belonging to the same family died in a road accident on Thursday when their vehicle went over a cliff as they were on their way to a wedding, the Saba state news agency reported.

The report said: "A total of 15 women died and 16 others were injured, some of them seriously, when their vehicle, carrying 30 women, drove over a mountain cliff in the northern province of Hajjah.”

The women were heading from one village to another to attend the wedding when their "overloaded vehicle" left the rugged road and tumbled over the cliff, Saba quoted a local government official as saying.

Because of a poor network of roads, fatal accidents are very common in the impoverished mountainous Arabian Peninsula country.
