Brasilia - Brazilian federal police have arrested 32 people suspected of running an online child pornography ring and uncovered graphic accounts of children being abused, raped and murdered.

Over the course of the six-month investigation, police uncovered accounts of other crimes, "including the mention of violence against their own children, kidnapping, murder and acts of cannibalism", the police said in a statement.

"There were bodily injuries committed against children during macabre sexual fantasies as well as abominable stories," said Police Commissioner Diana Kalazans Mann.

The alleged ring included 160 users in Brazil and 34 other countries. Police believe users accessed the encrypted network by invitation only and shared their private collections.

The police said they had also seized a number of computers, cameras and video equipment, without providing further details.
