5 females found with throats slashed

2011-04-24 08:01

Acapulco - Police in Acapulco say four women and a teenage girl have been found with their throats cut in the Mexican resort city. All appear to have been connected to the same beauty parlour.

Guerrero state police say the bodies of two of the women and the 14-year-old girl were found inside the beauty parlor outside the tourism district. They had been stripped of their clothes and their hands and feet were tied.

The other two victims were found separately in other parts of Acapulco - one in an abandoned car and the other on a street behind a church.

Acapulco has seen violent turf battles among at least three drug gangs. But the mass killing of women is not a usual calling card of drug traffickers.

are you sure this is not in joburg ????

      mikedek - 2011-04-24 09:48

Strangly enough there is crime in other parts of the world!

@Mikedek and i.f.chick: You shouldn't be so touchy.. I'm sure Mike knows very well that crimes also happen in other parts of the world - I woudl say that his comment is therefore a "tongue in cheek" reference to the fact that although crimes like these happen in Joburg, they barely make the newpapers while this incident has made International headline news...

@wybmco01 self-absorbed comment. youre 'pretnding' these things happen regularly in johannesburg because it makes the city look tame in comparison. thats the reason. youre also confusing the two places with regards to media coverage if this happened in "johannesburg" it would be everywhere. in acapulco and mexico in general thewir press is censored. not like sa. an english-speaking country with a free press, where this would recieve massive coverage worldwide its the other way round

Yes John, S.A. is the only place where crime happens. Clever. Why don't read a lot more? Then you'll know that you're so wrong!

Mexico's crime is far worse than SA. It's horrifying. But the Government is taking it to the drug gangs, which is good. It's a long-term fight. They have to keep going.

      John Smith - 2015-04-23 20:29

correct it is definitely worse than sa. all those countries are worse, they dont log car crashes as murders like sa and have many. many missing persons cases which skewers the statistics low this is why they have official travel advisories issued while sa doesnt, its not rocket science. even the ones with officially lower murder rates like columbia and mexico
