6 tourists killed in Peru accident
Lima - A bus carrying 33 Dutch and Belgian tourists collided with a truck in southern Peru on Wednesday, killing six passengers and the bus driver.
The dead were four Dutch tourists and two Belgians and 27 others were injured, police told El Comercio newspaper. The accident happened between Puno and Desaguadero near Lake Titicaca.
Witnesses said the accident was prompted by a second bus that had been seeking to pass the truck and then braked suddenly. To avoid a collision, the truck driver turned the wheel, bringing the vehicle into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with the tourist bus.
