Paris - Paris' Eiffel Tower received a recording-breaking 7 million visitors last year.

The newly refurbished tower, which was outfitted with a glass observation floor during renovations in October, received 5.3% more visitors in 2014 than in the preceding year.

The number of visitors is the highest in the structure's history, the company that runs the site said on Tuesday.

While French tourists made up the largest number of visitors, foreign tourists accounted for the majority of visits.

The highest number of foreign tourists came from the United States at 11.9%, followed by Britain, Italy and Spain with 7.5%, 6.8% and 6.7%, respectively.
