9/11 remembered worldwide

2011-09-11 07:29

Wellington - Ten years on from the day the 9/11 terrorist attacks changed so much for so many people, the world's leaders and millions of citizens are pausing to reflect.

From Sydney to Atlanta, formal ceremonies are planned or already under way to remember the nearly 3 000 who perished from more than 90 countries. And, in a reminder that threats remain, authorities in Washington and New York are beefing up security in response to intelligence about possible plans for a car bomb attack.

For some people, the pain never stops. In Malaysia, Pathmawathy Navaratnam woke up on Sunday in her suburban Kuala Lumpur home and did what she's done every day for the past decade: wish her son "Good morning." But Vijayashanker Paramsothy, a 23-year-old financial analyst, was killed in the attacks on New York.

"He is my sunshine. He has lived life to the fullest, but I can't accept that he is not here anymore," said Navaratnam. "I am still living, but I am dead inside."

In Manila, dozens of former shanty dwellers offered roses, balloons and prayers for another 9/11 victim, American citizen Marie Rose Abad. The neighbourhood used to be a shantytown that reeked of garbage. But in 2004, Abad's Filipino-American husband built 50 brightly coloured homes, fulfilling his late wife's wish to help impoverished Filipinos.

Brutal murder

The village has since been named after her.

"It's like a new life sprang from the death of Marie Rose and so many others," said villager Nancy Waminal.

In New Zealand, players from the American Eagles rugby team were among the first to mark the anniversary at a Sunday memorial service in the town of New Plymouth. The players, who are participating in the Rugby World Cup tournament, listened to a speech by US ambassador David Huebner, whose brother Rick survived the attacks on the World Trade Centre.

"We watched live on television the brutal murder of 3 000 individuals," Huebner said. "We reacted with near unanimous horror and sadness."

"As we mark the 10th anniversary of that day, we commemorate the triumph of human kindness, and the humanity and self-abrogation which sets us apart from every other species on this planet Earth."

No anger

In Australia, Sydney resident Rae Tompsett said she's never felt angry over the murder of her son Stephen Tompsett, 39, a computer engineer who was on the 106th floor of the World Trade Centre's north tower when it was hit by a hijacked plane.

"No, not anger," she said. "Sorrow. Sorrow that the people who did this believed they were doing something good."

The retired school teacher and her husband Jack, 92, were planning to attend Sunday morning mass as usual at their local church before going to a commemorative service in the afternoon.

"It's incredible that it is 10 years - it feels a bit like yesterday," Tompsett said.

In Japan, families gathered in Tokyo to pay their respects to the 23 Fuji Bank employees who never made it out of their World Trade Centre office. A dozen of the workers were Japanese.

'We are all brothers'

One by one, family members laid flowers in front of an enclosed glass case containing a small section of steel retrieved from Ground Zero. They clasped their hands and bowed their heads. Some took pictures. Others simply stood in solemn silence. There were no tears, just reflection.

Kunitake Nomura, 76, a former Fuji Bank employee who mourns losing his younger co-workers, attended a subsequent memorial service.

"We need to try to understand each other," Nomura said. "We need to overcome differences in race and religion and learn to live in peace. We are all brothers after all. We must remind ourselves of this today."

South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak sent a letter to US President Barack Obama, conveying his "deepest condolences" to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy, their bereaved families and the American public. Lee, whose country is one of the strongest allies of the United States, called the attacks "unpardonable" and praised decade-long US efforts to fight terrorism.

And leaders in Pakistan, which has been a victim of al-Qaeda terrorism but is also accused of not doing enough to crack down on militants, said they joined the people of the US in honouring the memory of those killed 10 years ago.

"As a country that has been severely affected by terrorism, we reaffirm our national resolve to strengthening international co-operation for the elimination of terrorism," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, authorities in New York and Washington are increasing security for their 9/11 memorial services after intelligence agents got a tip that three al-Qaeda members could be planning to set off a car bomb in one of the cities. Officials have found no evidence any terrorists have sneaked into the country.

The Taliban marked the anniversary by vowing to keep fighting against US forces in Afghanistan and saying they had no role in the September 11 attacks.

"Each year, 9/11 reminds the Afghans of an event in which they had no role whatsoever," a statement emailed to news organisations said. "American colonialism shed the blood of tens of thousands of miserable and innocent Afghans."

The US and its allies invaded Afghanistan on October 7 2001, after the Taliban who then ruled the country refused to hand over September 11 mastermind Osama bin Laden. The al-Qaeda leader was at the time living in Afghanistan, where the terror network retained training camps and planned attacks against the US and other countries.

Disgusting that the truth has still not been accepted even after a mountain of evidence has been collected to prove that these towers and building 7 could never have been brought down by these two planes. Building 7 was the worst. It apprently fell due to fire? Just so that everyone understands and FYI.....NO building has EVER in the history of mankind collapsed due to fire damage. This is a proven FACT. Why should these buildings be any different? The Nazis did the same thing to start World War 2.....

      Mark - 2011-09-11 07:55

Good for you. I can see you are not a sheep.

History is awash with False flag operations.

      Syndrome - 2011-09-11 09:10

Give it a rest. Of course it is unique - no one has ever flown two 767's filled with fuel into a building. And go look at the videos - they're all over Youtube. - 2011-09-11 09:40

@ Syndrone did you know that the twin towers were specifically designed to withstand numerous direct hits by planes? Did you know that hundreds of people have testified to have heard multiple explosions just before the twin towers fell. Have you ever compared a video of a "planned demolition" and the twin towers "collapse"? Try and look at this matter with an open mind and not based purely on what is fed to you on the main stream media please sir.

      ANGRYMAN - 2011-09-11 10:08

So the US Government planned this to coincide with the hiring of a few " arab types " prepared to sacrifice their lives by flying two jets into the towers & all the cell phone calls from the planes were false ???? Yep, that really makes sense, wonder why we did not realise it was all a plot laid on by the US Government, with the help of a few " bored " pilots. Brilliant Shaun....Brilliant !

      BOFFINBOB_UNBANNED - 2011-09-11 10:19

Have to agree with Shaun...The first plane flying in to the tower was a pure accident & the second plane flying low by coincidence was blinded by the smoke & accidently hit the second tower ! Then on this crazy day another plane hit the pentegon, purely by accident of course. OR...................These planes were piloted by REMOTE CONTROL, of course, it all makes sense now. OMG we have been decieved. How many of you know that Julius Malema is actually a robot designed & controlled by the right wing to sow discord amongst the races. Shaun knows...dont you Shaun.

      Armed - 2011-09-11 11:13

Shaun, I hear you. But, if you can explain why Bin Laden openly claimed responsibility, I might start believing in the fake Youtube videos showing rockets hitting the Pentagon seconds before the plane did. And lets not forget the one where an alien spacecraft hovering in the distance while the planes decended on the towers. While we debate on this, lets shed a few minutes for the victims of this atrocity - WORLD WIDE! Im sure that this what this article was about...

      Syndrome - 2011-09-11 11:32

It's not closed-minded to accept what is right in front of your nose. The Twin Towers were designed to survive strikes from the biggest planes at the time, which were not 767's. Even the architects admitted to this. They both did survive the collisions but the fuel melted the steel superstructure. And how do you explain the fact that the building was rigged for a demolition but the explosives survived two collisions from airliners and then bathed in burning jet fuel for an hour, only to be remotedly detonated an hour later. That's idiotic.

      john - 2011-09-11 11:33

"Have you ever compared a video of a "planned demolition" and the twin towers "collapse"?" Yes - and there is absolutely no similarity. When a building is demolished by controlled demolition, the ground floors are blown out and the entire structure then pancakes. So the order of collapse is that floor 2 will collapse onto floor 1, then floor 3 onto floor 2, then floor 4 onto floor 3 and so on until the top floor is the very last to be destroyed. It is a "bottom upwards" collapse. With the Towers, the opposite happened. It was top-down. I'm not sure which floor collapsed first as the airliner impact damage spanned several floors. But let's say it was floor 90 that gave way first. 90 then collapsed onto 89, which collapsed onto 88, which collapsed onto 87 and so on. Completely the reverse of a planned demolition. Unfortunately for the conspiracy theory webmasters, I am able to do my own thinking. Which, in turn, allows me ask myself this: if the US had the organisational capacity to pull off 9/11 undetected, why wouldn't they have the organisational capacity to plant a couple of canisters of Sarin or anthrax undetected in some Iraqi military facility? It's a question that the conspiracy theorists are hoping you won't ask. And you won't. Because you slavishly allow them to do your thinking for you. The screaming irony is that you then accuse others of being "brainwashed sheep". If anybody is brainwashed, it's the hordes of mouth-breathers at WhatReallyHappened. - 2011-09-11 12:18

@ never heard of remote controlled drones? Cell phone calls were real as were the calls from the innocent victims stranded in the towers just before the planned explosions were set off minutes after the planes hit. Jees open your mind and the truth will set you free buddy. - 2011-09-11 12:19

@ obviously dont know what they say about sarcasm do you? There is another saying..."there are none so blind as those who choose not to see". - 2011-09-11 12:25

@ Syndrome...the reinforcing steel structure could only melt and collapse at around 1575 °C. Jet fuel only burns at 825 °C. You do the Math sir.

      slg - 2011-09-11 12:31

Maybe you're wrong? Ever thought of that? How dumb can you be? - 2011-09-11 12:39

@ are obviously an architect right? Perhaps you should watch the testimony from the actual head of the "investigation team" who FYI was not even allowed to inspect the rubble from the trade centre site. Apparently the rubble was removed almost as soon as the dust settled? Dont you think that is strange? Or is it absolutely normal sir?

      slg - 2011-09-11 12:40

Shawn you talk such crap. You think you know better than everyone, whereas in actual fact you're believing a silly story that's supposed to be a fun what-if idea, not lived as if it is true reality. Wake up man, the world is passing you by.

      Zee - 2011-09-11 12:53

Amazing arguments Slg, so well thought out! Your opinion surely is the right one and everyone else here is wrong. I mean, PBS would never lie would they! Idiot.

      Cire - 2011-09-11 13:02

@Shaun. I can't blame you for being stupid - but I can blame you for being ignorant!

      Syndrome - 2011-09-11 13:19

@Shaun - yes if you make a childish little lab experiment and you show jet fuel burning and you throw steel into it, it won't melt - that's exactly the type of crap program you probably watched somewhere online. But if you weaken the structure by making a giant hole in it, burn so much fuel and set fire to every consumable on those floors, you only need to weaken the structure which is busy supporting about thirty floors above it.

      john - 2011-09-11 13:30

@Shaun: @ are obviously an architect right? I don't need to be an architect to spot the difference between a building that collapses from the ground up and one that collapses from the impact point down. The difference is visually apparent. "Apparently the rubble was removed almost as soon as the dust settled? Dont you think that is strange? Or is it absolutely normal sir?" It's pretty normal in the CBD of a massive city. Rubble is hazardous, people need to get to work, life needs to move on. We're talking about a major financial centre here. BTW, do you have an answer for me on why the US, if 9/11 was an inside job, didn't plant WMD in Iraq as a follow-up inside job? I mean, surely, if a country can organise a massive coordinated attack involving civilian airliners and hundreds of thousands of witnesses in broad daylight undetected, then slipping a few canisters of Sarin or anthrax undetected into an Iraqi military facility should be a doddle, yeah? Far fewer potential witnesses, they could lock down the facility and not let anybody near, they could do it at night, plus they'd only need one person with a few canisters in a backpack. So why didn't they do it? The answer is that you don't know. And the reason you don't know is that the conspiracy theory sites can't explain it. And because you don't have them telling you what to think, you can't reason it out on your own.

      slg - 2011-09-11 13:33

Zee, everyone else here is wrong? There's like five nut-jobs who believe 9/11 didn't happen or was staged. What are you talking about man? Stop being stupid. - 2011-09-11 13:56

@ slg...personal insults when you cannot argue your point due to lack of understanding and evidence from your part? Sounds about normal to me! - 2011-09-11 14:01

@ john...they did not find weapons of mass destruction because there were none sir. I honestly do not understand your logic to be honest. You basically proved my point for me so many thanks I guess. In case you missed even that my point was that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan was illegal. Please try and understand the legality of the matter. If you say you are going to invade a country because you fear your safety due to them harbouring weapons of mass destruction then by god find them after you invade them at least. Thousands of innocent Iraqi Women and Children died because of that reason.

      john - 2011-09-11 15:45

Shaun, don't play dumb. You know full well the point I am making: that if the US was so desperate to invade that they staged an attack on their own people, they would have followed through and planted WMD to justify the invasion afterwards. If you can't follow the logic inherent in that, no wonder you are so easy to hoodwink with outlandish conspiracy theories. - 2011-09-11 16:59

@ John...more outlandish than 3 under trained Taliban pilots flying boeings into buildings with pinpoint accuracy? Nevermind the Pentagon which is situated under some of the most strictest and tighest air defence systems in the World. More outlandish that NOT ONE F-16 fighter was launched to escort the boeings who were in the above mentioned airspace for over 30 minutes out at the threat of being shot down? More outlandish than seeing streams of molten iron flowing from the rubble at ground zero? ..or possibly more outlandish than the notion that greedy Men would "frame" former allies who know too many secrets about them? Let us just agree to disagree sir and realise that we are all coming towards this topic from different angles.

      john - 2011-09-11 19:41

Far more outlandish than any of those things. The golden rule about pulling off a great crime, as any criminal will tell you, is to have as few people as possible in on it. Organising an attack on the scale of 9/11 would have taken the willing cooperation of hundreds of people, from hijackers to military chiefs to security personnel at the Towers to people tasked with planting demolition charges and installing remote control systems in airliners, etc. It would have taken hundreds of meetings, rehearsals to make sure that everybody knows their role and can carry it out smoothly. And not a single one of those people has spoken out, ten years after the fact? Not a single person has become disillusioned with the ideology behind killing 3000 of their fellow citizens and decided to tell the truth? And for what? A couple of Iraqi oil contracts that US firms have ended up not getting anyway? Riiiiight. Clinton couldn't even keep a blowjob between two people secret. The Kennedys couldn't keep a car crash with two people secret. Nixon couldn't keep a break-in at an office block secret. And these incidents happened at night with few if any witnesses. But Bush kept an attack that involved hundreds of people secret, in broad daylight with a million eyewitnesses in NYC and countless more on television? The mind boggles.

      Law01 - 2011-09-11 22:32

Shaun: Their own Government was behind the attacks, enough evidence points to it, however there is not a single piece of solid evidence to prove Al-qaeda was resposible for 911. The AMERICAN Judiciary is messed up anyway so they will never find Bush & his cronies even if they charge them which will never happen. Lawyer for Human Rights, Peace, Justice and the Truth.

      Neutkraker - 2011-09-11 22:46

@Shaun. I suppose you also believe there are aliens living amongst us and that our television sets are rigged so they can spy on us?

      Lizzee - 2011-09-12 01:22

Ok so where's your proof? You all say it didn't happen the way we were all told, but you won't prove your statements. Give me research. Clear and precise research. You think you're all "thinking outside the box" yet you all follow each other like sheep... all baah-ing after the same conspiracy theory, that the US was responsible for 9/11! That's absolute bull, by the way. You can't prove it because you do not HAVE the proof. - 2011-09-12 06:27

@ Lizzee...besides the fact that NO BUILDING has EVER collapsed due to fire in the entire history of modern architecture? Besides the fact that the twin towers were designed to withstand direct hits by planes? Besides the fact that in the 30 minutes before this was going on NOT ONE F-16 fighter jet was launched to defend the air space around these areas? There are too many questions!

      Netherlander - 2011-09-12 06:47

What SLAYS me is that in the other to venues where the planes "HIT" and "WENT DOWN".... Where is PROOF OF THE WRECKAGE?????? The plane thaty was forced down into an open piece of land... NO WRECKAGE SEEN.... The supposed shot of the plane smacking into the Pentagon, shows a CGI type image of a massive FLAME... but NO OUTLINE OF A PLANE!!! So, Swindon Shaun... conspiracy theory is correct!!!!

      slg - 2011-09-12 07:04

Netherlander, "what slays you"? :) This is consistent melodrama speak of conspiracy theorists.

SHaun, by definition, there cannot be a lack of evidence about an event that never happened in the first place.

      Monacoroyals - 2011-09-12 07:53

This is what happens when a billion people are brainwashed every Friday after prayers... lol... If you don’t like what your fellow brothers have done - then condemn them, don’t think up conspiracy theories. BTW, their violent nature complements the actions that were taken on 9/11... They are killing each other in Libya, Egypt Syria etc etc - what would make anyone believe they wouldn’t fly planes into buildings? This is some of the weakest conspiracy theories around however very well circulated by a billion people who just don’t feel like being ashamed of their own brothers.

      Flea - 2011-09-12 07:58

Well done Shaun. I too have been researching this for a few years and I totally agree with you. As well as quite a few of the other conspiracies. People must be blind not to see it.

      BrassCopper - 2011-09-12 08:16

OMG You ppl are so sad. I was in Manhattan on that crazy day... I saw the plane fly in to the north tower... I saw people jumping to their death! This is no Hollywood - it was an act of war. But I guess I cant blame you for thinking otherwise - for you were lucky enough not be in New York that day. I WILL NEVER FORGET THEM JUMPING – nightmares until today. Rest in peace - may those that hate so much in this world, find love, so that we could live in peace.

      yyxx - 2011-09-12 10:28

The most disturbing part is that the majority of people still want to believe that "terrorists" committed the attacks. Madness. So many thumbs down to the truth. Dark times are ahead and it's the governments you support that will be the conductors.

      Succubus - 2011-09-12 11:26

Actually, many buildings have collapsed due to fire. In fact the greatest threat to firefighters in a burning building, is the building collapsing. Perhaps there are some fire fighters in the forum who would like to comment?

      john - 2011-09-12 13:32

@Netherlander, there is plenty of wreckage seen. Go to the Wiki page on flight 93, you will see pictures of the wreckage there. But let's humour you for a minute and say that Flight 93 never crash-landed in that field. I have some questions for you: 1) Numerous witnesses saw the plane flying in at low altitude and witnessed the crash/plume of smoke. Were they imagining things? 2) If the plane didn't crash, what caused the plume of smoke? 3) What caused the long crater in the ground? 4) What happened to the plane if it didn't crash? Why did witnesses who saw it flying in at low altitude not see it flying off again afterwards? 5) What has happened to the people on that plane afterwards? I'm assuming that these will be your answers: 1) They were brainwashed by the CIA afterwards and had images of the plane implanted by alien mind rays. They're remembering something they never saw. The CIA does this all the time. 2) The CIA cleverly detonated a bomb at ground level to make people think it was the plane crashing. 3) The CIA dug the crater quickly with an earthmoving machine, finishing and hiding the machine mere seconds before the first people arrived on the scene from nearby towns/buildings to investigate the crash/plume of smoke. 4) The CIA made it invisible using the Philadelphia Experiment. 5) They are being held against their will at Area 51.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-12 13:35

Shaun - there are quite a few documentaries currently here in the States. With proof that it was an outside attack. Showing how and why the Towers collapsed. Showing why there were no fighter jets in the air immediately. You honestly need to watch it and stop filling your mind with so much hate towards one country.

      Oryx_ZA - 2011-09-12 13:54

here is my theory. The government brought down the south tower in a false flag operation. Simultaneous the Islamic extremist society of extremist who are Islamic or the ESOEWAI high jacked an airliner and crashed it into the North Tower. and the Pentagon crush you may ask? That was Communist aliens ...duh!!!! Open your eyes people!!!!

      john - 2011-09-12 13:58

@Netherlander, a page you might want to visit: Wait, let me guess: all these people are CIA plants who are lying? In that case, let me ask you the same as I did about Flight 93. Where is Flight 77 today, and what has happened to the people who were on that flight? All being held against their will at Area 51 again? Gee, Area 51 must be getting kinda crowded. They'll have to start building condos to accommodate all the prisoners held against their will by the evil government.

      buka001 - 2011-09-12 14:28

Shaun, you are wrong on every statement you make. Some sensible people have addressed the ludicrous points of your post, so I shall not repeat those replies. The best logical question one can apply here is: 1)How did they bring the thousands of meters of detonation cord, explosives, delays and blasting caps into the 3 buildings, without anyone noticing? The buildings were occupied 24/7. 2)How did the strip open cladding, ceilings and flooring to access the beams, columns and trusses, without anyone noticing? 3) How did they place the charges and the detonation cord, which would have spanned all over the floors and offices without anyone noticing? 4) The placing of charges would have taken in excess of 6 months for WTC 1 and 2. How is it that no one noticed all the charges and cords in this time period? 5) Why did fellow co-workers who watched their friends fall to their deaths say nothing about the tons of demolition charges they saw lying about the buildings? Why did the guys who jumped out the building to their deaths not stop and wonder, mmm should i be coming to work here with all these explosives lying around? In 10 years NO explanation as to how the buildings were rigged has been provided. The conspiracy theories have no start point, therefore they have no substance. How can you say the buildings came down by controlled demolition of you cant explain how they were rigged? Occam's razor! You fail!

Will the bunch of insensitive pricks commenting here about who's fault it was and who apparently know's so MUCH about EVERY FACT and inside jobs please just go back to your little corner. This article and today is not about YOU or who's fault it was, it's remembering those who died 10 years ago, it's paying some respect to those who died, REGARDLESS of who's fault it was.

      Libertadores - 2011-09-11 08:18

Have you paid any respect for the millions of Iraqis dead as a result of this. How about the Afghan families being killed daily or the Pakistanese by bombed by drones as we speak. I on the other hand do on a daily basis on these threads by exposing the barbarity of those that started this whole mess.

      akaRags - 2011-09-11 08:43

At Libertadores, - "I on the other hand do on a daily basis on these threads by exposing the barbarity of those that started this whole mess." - Let's give you a sainthood and a Bells. You really are not going to change any ones minds, people will either believe it was an inside job or that it was Al Quaeda terrorists. Point is, wether you like it or not, for many, and especially America, today IS about remembering the victims of 9/11, regardless of whose fault it was. Sadly, innocent lives have been lost the world over because of war, so do you remember EVERY single innocent victim whose life has been lost due to war, every single day, since the beginnning of humanity...........

      Libertadores - 2011-09-11 09:22

My response was to D van Wyk, it wasn't about changing people's minds. All you newly-found humanists, do you descend into similar apoplexy when when - how should I put this - scores of innocent muslims have ended up being killed? I doubt it. - 2011-09-11 09:45

@ D van Wyk I meant no disrespect in mentioning the true culprits behind this massacre. In fact by exposing the truth I am showing these innocent victims more respect than anyone who just simply believes the first explanation given to them regarding this incident on your local news media sir. Please try and understand my motivation is to try and stop this from happening again...and again...and again in the future. Trust me when I say the German people would never have thought that their own Nazi party had in fact burnt down their own parliament to justify the beginning of World War 2.

Paying respects?Even though those who killed them are being left alone while they live lavish lives from the money they accumulated at the expense of the people's lives?Do you think a bunch of sweet words will help?Justice is the only way that these people can be is the only way that their families can ever be honored. Do you have any idea how horrible it was living in the hell they were in before the US and their allies came? Go visit there. Don't just dream up ideas dude. akaRags - 2011-09-11 08:50

Wether you like it or not, as far as much of America is concerned, Al Quaeda were the real culprits, - the terrorists who attacked America, so the likes of you, who believe it was an inside job (or whatever you believe) can comment until you are blue in the face, you aren't going to make a difference.

      SP - 2011-09-11 09:07

You know, while the FACT of ANYONE dying senselessly is a terrible shame and disgusting - why do the Americans ALWAYS make a thing of how GREAT THEY ARE? I have a list in front of me showing figures of some of the worst murderous atrocities in history (a LOT in America) but they don't seem to have a day of remembrance for any of them? Of course, EVERYONE's heart goes out to the families who were and are affected by this terrible disaster but again, America will make a MOVIE out of it??? Each and every person who was and is affected will remember their loved ones in the way they see fit. People all over the world feel sad and sorry and we KNOW what happened 10 years ago - we really do. No, THEY have to make a HUGE boohaai about the episode. Years ago, America was my dream! I would have given so much just to visit it - now, I have a completely different view and if I never saw the place, it would be too soon. My deep, sincere condolences (even though I don't know ANY of them)to the friends and families who lost loved ones on the 11th September. :) - 2011-09-11 09:51

9/11 was staged. To all those who doubt that the American government organised the attack..... watch the movie ZEITGEIST. Tell me how WTC building 7 collapsed with no fires/no planes flying into it. It was a controlled demolition. Tell me how the steel structures on the WTC buildings were deliberately cut at an angle.... it was a controlled demolition. Tell how there was no visible evidence of aeroplane parts or engines or seats or peoples bodies in the Pentagon supposed plane strike. Its utter nonsense. Why did the FBI cover up the ground outside the Pentagon with sand and gravel to disguise or cover up any evidence. Tell me how an aeroplane flies through all the street lights and wires around the pentagon without breaking one pole.... but yet flies into the pentagon. Rubbish!!! it was a controlled bomb explosion. Where are the seats of that aircraft / where is the black boxes of those aeroplanes as well as Flight 63. No evidence of the plane or bodies....BUT !!! yet the FBI laid claim that they had found fingerprints in the wreckage.... WHAT A LOAD A HOGWASH!!!

      Libertadores - 2011-09-11 09:24

Gary. A security camera captured the plane flying into the Pentagon. You should see it.... - 2011-09-12 06:11

@ Lizzee..Funny thing is you cannot see it in that footage. One frame you see the building and the next you see an explosion. No plane is ever seen and that is fact.

      slg - 2011-09-12 07:10

Shaun, if you watch the real footage, it's clear. You're sitting at your computer theorizing, when millions of people witnessed the events. Do you know how dumb you sound?

      Lizzee - 2011-09-12 13:37

@Shaun. Again. Documentaries. Where they interview people involved. Where they show a lot more footage. That chip on your shoulder? It's huge, bru.

      john - 2011-09-12 14:16

Shaun, the security camera at the Pentagon gate does not record 25 frames per second video, like a movie or TV show. It records one or two frames per second, hence the jerky nature of the footage. This is how most security cameras work. If you watch footage from an airport check-in or CCTV camera at street level or in a store, people move very jerkily through the frame. Their movements are not smooth. That is because it is not being filmed at 25 frames per second. They set it to record at only one or two frames per second. This way, the tape lasts longer and they don't have to change tapes as frequently. A plane coming in at 400mph would take about a tenth of a second to get from the edge of the frame to being completely enveloped inside the Pentagon. If the camera doesn't snap a frame during that tenth of a second, you won't see a thing. Really, this stuff is not very difficult to figure out. A leeeetle bit of technical knowledge and research into how security cameras work (as opposed to TV cameras) will give you all the answers you need. There is no need to let the conspiracy theory sites do your thinking for you.

  • Ingwe - 2011-09-11 09:13

No doubt the 'Tin Foil Hat' brigade of conspiracy theorists will be out in force today telling us that 9/11 was an inside job. Well to all of them I say please see below and see what category you fall under. The US Government Was Behind 9/11 NASA Faked the Moon Landings The Illuminati Run the World AIDS Is a Man-Made Disease Lizard-People Run the World Fluoride in the water is brainwashing us all The Roswell Crash Cover-Up Princess Diana Was Murdered The FBI killed Kennedy Marilyn Monroe killed by the Mafia Elvis Pressley is still alive Aliens built the pyramids If you believe: 1 or 2 of them could be true = Gullible 1-4 = Not quite a retard, but your working on it. 1-6 = Not certifiable yet, but getting close. 1-8 = Complete and utter loon All of them = Your name is David Icke - 2011-09-11 09:59

@ do you know none of them are not true? Have you ever read extensively into them? Do you have any degrees or an expert in either structural engineering, archaeology, chemisty, off-world Biology, metalurgy, photography, occult history, Illuminati history, criminal history? If not please do not insult thousands of educated people who have given expert testimonies regarding a few of the topics you mentioned above sir!

LOL....What a bunch of IDIOTS you conspiracy theorists are. Did you ever stop to think what a " cover up " this would have had to be ? For an operation of this magnitude to have been devised by the US Government, many, many people would have had to be involved & in the " know. " Yet no " deep throat " has stepped forward in the last ten years to suggest that this was indeed an " inside job. " For this to have been carried out, it would have required the blessing of the " highest authority " as well as the CIA. Can you seriously imagine concensus being reached on this terrible deed. Idiots ! - 2011-09-11 12:32

@ you think the German people even suspected for a minute what Hitler did to them under their very noses? Only today do we know the truth.

All of this is also an interesting examples of Dawkins 'memes' and Lenin's 'useful idiots'. Liked the David Icky comment!

      Lizzee - 2011-09-12 02:25

Well said, Ingwe. @ShaunSwindon - how do you know any of them are true? Have you ever read extensively into them? Do you have any degrees or an expert in either structural engineering, archaeology, chemisty, off-world Biology, metalurgy, photography, occult history, Illuminati history, criminal history? No? Then you should follow your own advice. Would love to see some concrete proof though please. - 2011-09-12 06:13

@ Lizzee...I have read up on most of those subjects for over 13 years now. I have debunked so much I cannot even remember but when educated and expert opinions give testimony you have to listen. You obviously did not get my point. I am not the expert but simply the messenger from the people who are qualified.

      slg - 2011-09-12 07:13

You must see those people, Lizee: they're very much on the fringe of reality, with no peer recognition whatsoever. Shaun, thirteen years? Geez, talk about a waste of life.

      slg - 2011-09-12 07:32

Shaun, have you ever considered and concluded you've been debunked for so long because you're so off track from try reality? How stubborn can you be?

      Brilliant comment Ingwe! lol

      Lizzee - 2011-09-12 13:39

@Shaun - so that is what I'm doing. I'm listening to people far more experienced than you, give testimony on what happened that day. I do NOT listen to made-up fairy tales like you've been telling us you've been doing for 13 years (uh.... didn't 9/11 happen only 10 years ago by the way?). @sgl - That's so true! It's actually quite sad though ;-)

      ProsAndCons - 2011-09-12 13:43

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Don't care much one way or the other. But again, nobody believed what was going on in the Apartheid forces either, remember. A lot of the debunking either way is true. But, and a big but, until some provable evidence comes out, neither group will ever believe the other. That, my dear fellow commentators, is called the polyglot of human existence, and is what, ultimately, leads to things called WAR.

      john - 2011-09-12 14:33

@Shaun: I am not the expert but simply the messenger from the people who are qualified. No, you are not. Thousands of experts gave testimony following 9/11. Their testimony is dismissed as lies by the conspiracy theorists, who instead quote only their own sources. So you are not the messenger of the qualified people, you are the messenger of the people whom a small group of conspiracy theorists consider to be experts. That is not the same thing. An exhaustive study of all the WTC collapses was done by a team consisting of govt as well as civic society bodies. You choose to ignore that study entirely and dismiss it as lies, quoting only the conspiracy theories instead. The obvious conclusion is that you (and the conspiracy theorists) only consider someone to be an "expert" if they agree with your preconceived views. You are driven by an agenda to discredit the US, not by a quest to know the truth. Stop fooling yourself that you're an objective messenger. You're a propagandist, plain and simple.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-13 02:24

@mbulelo - but it's okay for YOU to ridicule Ingwe? You just proved that you're the one lacking critical thinking. Well done :-)

      buka001 - 2011-09-13 15:50

@ Shaun I am a structural engineer. I was studying engineering at the time 9/11 occurred. When I first came across the lies that drove the conspiracy I became very involved in researching 9/11. I have traveled to the US. I met with the coroner who helped collect human remains at Shanksville. I met firefighters and policeman from New York who were in the towers before they came down. I have spoken to people who witnessed the crash at the Pentagon. Do you know that alot of people said they heard noises that sounded like bangs or explosions before the towers fell? Do you know that if you read their full testimony they say I saw the bodies fall and hit the ground. It sounded like bangs or explosions. I have read the engineering report that Bazant et al published on how the towers collapsed. I read NIST's report on building 7. What have you done to research 9/11? Visited prison planet and infowars on the net? Do some of your own independent research, apply logic and basic reasoning. How could the buildings have been rigged for demolition? You cant answer that, no one has in 10 years, so don't you think its time the conspiracy theorists sat together and formulated a decent explanation? Guess what in 10 years no one has ... I wonder why?

  • Antoinette - 2011-09-11 09:20

Do not for a moment think I do not care about Human life ma'am. The one fact, that is possitive after 10 years, is that radicalism, is on the decline the world over. And although terorists will always be a threat, Al-Qaeda has become more and more irrelevant. And the same counts for all those with cheap conspiracies stories, and the ones who enjoy sowing hatred You seem to make each other so happy with your comments, Go for it, but YOU ALSO ARE BECOMING LESS AND LESS RELEVANT IN TODAYS WORLD !!! - 2011-09-11 12:34

@ Anton...Radicalism is on the decline? I do not know which Planet you are from but innocent people are getting killed everyday in Iraq and Afghanistan?

      slg - 2011-09-11 12:54

      Shaun, by whom? Wake up.

      Cire - 2011-09-11 13:23

@ Anton. I agree. And the main reason terrorists like Al Qaeda are becoming irrelevant is the new willingness of the West to directly confront its enemies. The liberty of peoplke like Shaun et al to speak their minds is based on the liberties granted by the tradition that has been defended by the West over and over again (1914/18, 1939/46 and 1946/1990) - the international defensive war against terrorist organizations is the latest example, this time in alliance with the democracies of Asia and Africa - and the democracies struglling to emerge in Iraq and Afghanistan. So the opinions of a few nutters make little to no impression on the world stage. - 2011-09-11 14:09

@ Cire...I am sure the German people also felt the same way after the first year of war their evil Government got them into. Keep it up and we will have another World War soon enough!

@ramoh - have you forgotten about the thousands more who have died in Iraq before the US and her allies invaded? Just go to Iraq yourself. Ask people who suffered in the previous regime. You'll see how many Iraqi's are thankful to the States. Pakistan? I know a family from there. Little 2 year old girl was raped by a Muslim because her family was Christian and refused to convert to Islam. They went into hiding for 5 years before they could get out and was taken in by Canada. Two years old, Ramoh!!!! Then saved by one of the US' allies because her own country's government would not help her because she wasn't Muslim. Nice huh. Thousands from Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan? Could you please give us your research on how you came to thousands? Possibly give us a more clear number on how many from each country, and how many deaths can be directly placed at the US' door? If you can't (which I'm sure you won't be able to) then you can stop your ranting about hypocrisy and racism, since you are displaying those symptoms yourself.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-13 02:33

I was 14 when it happened but as I have grown over the years...I have come to understand a whole lot of military equipment companies and the private federal reserve made very lucrative profits from this venture.Bear in mind that the federal reserve bank is a privately owned different to Fed Ex, using a system that is completely unnecessary. All these wars that have ever existed have only been for the same reasons. To take control of the middle east's oils and minerals, they had to stage an event that would spark anger from Americans, thus giving them a good excuse to go to war. They have been there for almost a decade now and nothing concrete has been found,no weapons of mass destruction, but they still prosecuted Sadam for crimes against humanity, they even staged Bin Laden's death...the war on terror never existed because there are no the illusion that these diabolic bastards have created all in the name of greed and lust for power. I was actually starting to feel sorry for these pro gaddafi radicals, and wondered now that COWARD RAT NUMBER ONE and COWARD RAT NUMBER TWO, are hiding in a hole, how the heck they would be able to get rid of their anti Western frustrations. And than, Hallo, September 11 came around!!!! I actually believe there should be an age restriction of 18 years, on this site. How can we possible let kids read this crap and than expect them not to talk a load of sh.t , the rest pf their lives!!!!!! - 2011-09-11 14:40

@ Anton...I respect your opinion sir but try for one second to respect mine. Perhaps then you can question yourself why would I come onto a public forum, using my real name making these statements? All I am saying is try and keep an objective mind and not to accept the first bit of rubbish you hear on the radio or see on the TV please.

      Anton - 2011-09-11 16:03

ShaunSwindom, The only comments I don't respect, are the ones where one spews, extreme racism and extreme hatred. Yours are certainly not like this, so I do respect your comments. But this still gives me the right, to tell you are talking rubbish. You asked me what planet I am from, well as a matter of fact, its the same as yours. We just see our world with different eyes.

      slg - 2011-09-12 00:44

You're still thinking like a 14 year old, by the way. This much is clear.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-13 02:38

mbulelo - wake up! Do research before you make statements like "Why was that finger the only human body part found?". Go to this link: And Bin Laden himself claimed responsibility:,2933,137095,00.html In your own words: WAKE UP.

Apart from the fact that conspiracy debunkers never tire of spouting tedious cliches about "tin-foil hat wearers" I've noticed another defining characteristic of conspiracy debunkers: they always mutate into worldly wise cynics when incontrovertible proof emerges that conspiracies do indeed take place. Thus, if one were to tell one of these people that the CIA had worked with Al'qaeda or Gaddafi, the debunkers immediately changed tack and said "so what - that's what governments do". So which is it? Either the powers that be sometimes engage in conspiracy or they don't. No amount of childish bluster about trolls can obscure the fact that conspiracy on the part of western states is an established fact. It would be a very strange world if it wasn't. People lie and so do governments. As for the absurd argument that it is not conceivable that Bush would allow thousands of people to die in a false flag operation: he has allowed many thousands to die in Iraq and elsewhere. The habitual use of vitriolic personal abuse by conspiracy debunkers and their frantic calls for those who want a debate about the facts of 9/11 to be denied free speech indicate that that they are far from convinced of the truth of their own position.

      BOFFINBOB_UNBANNED - 2011-09-11 12:33

What was in it for Al'qaeda & Gaddaffi....! LOL....

      Libertadores - 2011-09-11 13:21

@BOFFINBOB_UNBANNED Your question should have been what was in it for the US government to kill its own citizens.

      slg - 2011-09-11 13:37

No, to a person who complicates reality to the point of making it meaningless and wrong. You're being stupid. Ever thought of that? The vast majority of thinking people scratch their heads and wonder how nut-jobs like you create the realities that you do. You're stupid. - 2011-09-11 14:14

...and slg shows more of his maturity by insulting people?

      Anton - 2011-09-11 14:37

Libertadores, Are we not fortunate that we have smart people like yourself , who are willing to take their time and effort to educate the dumb masses!!!!!!!! Especially ,as ones like you are becoming rare. Like a good supporter of tyrants/dictators/murderers/thiefs and con artists, you don't easily give up. Before the 1994 elections, you scared the sh.t out of us, by claiming that you were going to turn this country upside down. And than we had this "silly little thing" called elections. AND......., we discovered that you had been bullsh.tting us all along. You did not have this massive support you had been trying to convince us of. At your polital meetings, most of them you could not draw more that 50 supporters. At the 1994 elections you showed clearly that your radical policies are irrelevant in SA,with a tiny tiny support basis, Subsequent elections have made all these radical political parties obsolete. But still you won't give up!!! Mao had his silly little RED book. That Tripoli fruitcake had his silly little GREEN book And now we have Mr Libertadores who will shove his radical docrine down our throats with his silly INTERNET book. Former President Mbeki, about a month ago, told the people of Africa, to take to the streets and demonstrate against Nato's involvement in Libya. Well, you had a "great" success here in SA. For this MASSIVE demonstrations in Pretoria, 32 demonstrators turned up!!!!! AFRICA HAS NO APPETITE FOR RADICALISM !!!!!

"Thus, if one were to tell one of these people that the CIA had worked with Al'qaeda or Gaddafi, the debunkers immediately changed tack and said "so what - that's what governments do"." The mistake you make is in assuming that nobody except conspiracy theorists knows that the US worked with al Qaeda, and that it is your mission to open our eyes to the truth. You're not opening our eyes to anything. Everybody and his dog with an IQ above 20 knows that the US worked with the mujahideen in Afghanistan (which became al Qaeda/Taliban later) to oppose the Soviet occupation. And we not only know THAT they did it, we also know WHY they did it. So no, you are not being the illuminating light of all-knowing truth that you think you are. Not all of us get our view of the world from Chappies wrappers. I have read all the conspiracy theory sites already and laughed at them. Really, giving me links to sites I've already read is not opening my eyes to anything. I don't reject conspiracy theories because I've never heard of them and refuse to countenance any source but mainstream news. I reject conspiracy theories because I've read them and they are lunatic fringe nonsense.

      daaivark - 2011-09-12 14:56

I totally agree with you, John.

@ are obviously an architect right? Perhaps you should watch the testimony from the actual head of the "investigation team" who FYI was not even allowed to inspect the rubble from the trade centre site. Apparently the rubble was removed almost as soon as the dust settled? Dont you think that is strange? Or is it absolutely normal sir?

      slg - 2011-09-11 13:00

What rubbish. You're not smarter than everyone Shaun. You're actually dumber than the average person who knows better than to believe the crap you're believing.

      Syndrome - 2011-09-11 13:15

Yes they should have left the rubble there for months. - 2011-09-11 14:15

@ Syndrone...or left it there until a proper investigation could have been carried out surely? How do you do an investigation into a massacre like this if you are not allowed to see the evidence? I guess cover-ups are easy when people do not question their masters.

      daaivark - 2011-09-12 14:58

Jeez, Shaun. Some of us here are grown-ups. Believe it or not we even read books, visit bizarre websites and watch movies like Zeitgeist. BUT we also think about stuff.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-13 02:46

@Shaun. You say "...and slg shows more of his maturity by insulting people?". Same can be said of you. I quote: "slg...actually just an informed Human trying to share evidence which is out there for everyone to find with a closed minded slave like yourself. Your masters are obviously very happy with your record?" So it's okay for you to insult people but when someone else does it, you insult them by insulting their maturity level. Doesn't this now mean you're showing your maturity level?

  • SNOTKOP - 2011-09-11 21:29

It's the conspiracy theorists that are being outclassed here since they cannot give any proof, apart from their own theories. I know, since I've asked for proof but have yet to see any concrete proof, concrete studies, etc. @sgl - you rock on this particular forum. Well done!

@ slg...regardless of your insults and childish behavior on this forum it seems your closed minded, neanderthal style thinking, inside the box, is thankfully a minority. People have asked for proof or links to back our claims and when someone posts a link you still insult and ridicule?

      slg - 2011-09-12 07:26

  • Crazy86 - 2011-09-12 11:31

So many comments and so many arguments. Firstly, I do not support the idea of any conspiracy theory, nor would I reject it. I like to deal with hard facts on anything. While I do read up on these conspiracies and documentaries alike I have yet to be convinced of anything. I see many comments stating would be "facts" about how a this building could withstand such fires, how they could withstand a plane crash and other such claims. Are any of you people making these comments learnered experts in this field? I am not. And even though I have read up and seen comments made by these experts in the media, I would be a fool to claim this as "FACT" Engineering designs are made on equations and calculations taking into account scenarios. It difficult to cater for all scenarios. Direction and angle of impact, etc. Also, engineers make mistakes. A building could collapse for a multiple of reasons. Not only one. Real life is different to a design of a perfect scenario. I also remember a claim by some expert stating that a ship built in the early 1900s was unsinkable. Yet it sank on its maiden voyage. Or maybe that too was a conspiracy??? Who knows?? Just remember, white it is good to be educated on all parts of life and all ideas and takes. Do not become a fanatic. For all we know conspiracy theories are a made up for people to gather fame or to discredit another And remember the innocent lives that have been lost all over the world due to tyranny and terrorism

      Libertadores - 2011-09-12 11:58

"And remember the innocent lives that have been lost all over the world due to tyranny and terrorism" The tyrannts are in the Capitals of the west waging wars all over the world on brown people. The kind of aggression for which the nazis were hanged for.

      slg - 2011-09-12 17:15

Ahh, the brown people are being victimized. Are the brown people (aka the Arab League and Turkey) also victimizing the brown people in Libya? Boring, dumb, out of touch, irrelevant, weak and delusional ideas.

      Lizzee - 2011-09-13 02:54

Liberatos - wow your racist attitude astound me. 2 year old Pakistani girl raped by her dad's Muslim employer because they wouldn't convert to Christianity. White Canada minister getting them out because her own brown government refused to help, this after 5 years of being in hiding with her family. So many innocent women and children (Arab) being used by Hamas as human shields. Thousands of white people murdered in South Africa by black (or brown!) people. The kind of aggression the nazis were hanged for. - 2011-09-13 06:30

@ slg...besides being childish you appear to be a racist as well sir. Shame on you.

      slg - 2011-09-13 16:04

No Shaun. That's exactly the point. You're reading the world wrong. Read it again. Get the real message. Hold that perspective, then read what happened on 9/11. Perhaps you'll find yourself tuning into the real world.

I have seen them. I have read David Icke's books as well. Like I said. I will keep an open mind. But would not believe it all. For all we know we are brainwashed by conspiracy theorists and likewise, the Leaders of the world. There are bored people in the world just as there are people trying to cover up a story. And some get so convinced in a lie that they are convinced they can provide proof of the lie. But also believe not everything is a conspiracy and tragedies and accident do happen. Some may be caused by individuals on their own and not related to any so called "power group" such as Illuminati, Freemasons etc. This is a crazy planet and we are our own worst enemies. We can never know the real truth

      slg - 2011-09-12 17:16

  • ProsAndCons - 2011-09-12 13:43

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. Don't care much one way or the other. But again, nobody believed what was going on in the Apartheid forces either, remember. A lot of the debunking either way is true. But, and a big but, until some provable evidence comes out, neither group will ever believe the other. That, my dear fellow commentators, is called the polyglot of human existence, and is what, ultimately, leads to things called WAR.

I have no interest in back and forth mass-debates on the internet to prove any point, but it really amazes me to see how many of you out there so readily and quickly disbelieve anything on the basis of the lack of proof or the fact the media tells you what the reality is. To any disbelievers why not start by researching this term, "Predictive Programming" and you will hopefully realise that all of your comments are direct examples of this. All your opinions on "Conspiracy theorists", while dashingly original are the results of your years and years or molding through your best friends, television and the media. The same way we have been programmed with misinformation through the media and Hollywood to expect some kind of disaster in 2011 is the same reason we believe 'terrorists' are behind anything the wonderful tv says they are, the same reason the majority of society believes aliens exist, because these are things they want you to believe. Do you know the first alien sightings in modern history only appeared after WW2 in the USA? Research Project Paperclip to understand why this agenda is being pushed. You need to see the bigger picture before you can begin to understand smaller events like 9/11. Believe what you will, I have nothing to gain by writing this or convincing you to open your mind. I would love it if you did, just swallow your pride for a minute, don't automatically respond in a nasty way and go and start reading. Read about sacred geometry, Aleister Crowley,
