Afghan bomb kills wedding guests

2012-10-19 20:13

Kabul - A roadside bomb killed at least 19 people, mostly women and children, who were on their way to a wedding in Afghanistan's north on Friday, local police officials said.

Fourteen more people were wounded in the blast in the Dawlat Abad district of Balkh province, said provincial police spokesperson Shir Jan Durani, adding that the Taliban were behind the attack.

"They wanted to attend a wedding party in a village ... The bomb was planted by the enemies of Afghanistan," Durani said.

Separately, a bus carrying players for the country's first soccer league - who are holding their final on Friday in the capital, Kabul - crashed into a fuel tanker in northern Jowzjan province, killing nine and wounding 36, local officials said.

Violence has been increasing across the country as the deadline of end-2014 looms for most foreign combat troops to leave Afghanistan, leaving the 350 000-strong Afghan security forces in control.

Note the absolute lack of any comment by Muslim readers. But if the freer world mistakenly harms civilians, and apologizes, all hell breaks loose from these readers. It's no wonder then that the Muslim world is so bloody and violent. It's moral compass is upside down, riddled and corrupted with martyred beliefs and ideals.

Well said. The silence from the Muslim world is deafening when such atrocities are committed. But when a stupid little video is shown, or one civilian killed by a drone, then they have enmass violent marches, burning of flags, bombing of embassies. Their morals are not only skewed, they seem to have none when it comes to the lives of others.

Fred and lanfear.i rather choose to adress the pschological 'roadside bombs, in my own country which i witness myself everyday, before being a hypocite and condemning the actions of another sovereign country which 10000 kms away.

These were Muslims that were killed. This instability is a direct result of the occupation. "Its moral compass is upside down" - The irony, you racist bastard.

I find this article emotionally charged and based on very superficial evidence in pointing out the culprits. If muslims are going to condemn it,first prove who the culprits are.In a violent infested country with many rogue elements constantly trying to demonise the Taliban,any1 can exploit the situation.
