Aid allowed in Gaza

Jerusalem - A convoy of humanitarian aid was allowed into the Gaza Strip on Monday for the first time since Israel responded to a flare-up of violence by completely sealing off the territory on November 5.
"The transfer of 33 aid trucks carrying food, medicine and medical equipment have been completed at the Kerem Shalom crossing," the Israeli army said in a statement.
The decision to allow the supplies into the impoverished Palestinian territory came despite a continuation of violence, with police saying six rockets hit southern Israel on Monday without causing any casualty.
The UN Works and Relief Agency said almost two weeks of total closure had forced the suspension on Friday of food distribution to about 750 000 people, or half the population of the overcrowded sliver of land.
