Al-Qaeda claims bombs

Cairo - The al-Qaeda terror group has claimed responsibility for three suicide bombings in Jordan that killed at least 57 people, according to a message posted on the internet on Thursday.
"A group of lions of al-Qaeda ... launched a new attack on some of the dens in the land of the Muslims in Amman," the web posting said. It claimed that despite security measures, "some al-Qaeda soldiers were able to reach their targets and carry out their duties."
In Wednesday night's attacks, suicide bombers attacked three hotels in Amman, the Jordanian capital, killing at least 57 people and wounding at least 115 others, according to government officials.
The statement was signed in the name of the spokesperson for al-Qaeda in Iraq, a group which is led by the Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
