BBC: Filmmakers held in Iran
London - The BBC says 6 independent filmmakers have been detained in Iran but has denied an Iranian media report that the group are employed by the British public broadcaster.
The BBC said in a statement on Monday that the group were "independent documentary filmmakers".
It added that the BBC's Farsi-language service had bought the rights to their films but had not commissioned the work.
The broadcaster also said the signal for its BBC Persian service was frequently jammed.
