Moscow - Twelve Russians were still missing on Saturday in the Egyptian city of Taba after car bombs ripped through tourist resorts on the Red Sea coast of Egypt's Sinai desert late on Thursday, killing 33 people, the Russian media reported.
"There are 12 people whose fate remains unknown. They have not been located in hospitals where the injured have been taken," Vladimir Bondarenko, Russia's vice consul in Egypt, was quoted by the RIA-Novosti news agency as saying.
The Russian embassy in Egypt is currently searching for the 12 missing people, who were holidaying in Taba, Bondarenko added.
Russian televised reports said rescuers were continuing to scour the rubble at the half-destroyed Hilton hotel, near the border with Israel, where 30 people are still believed to be trapped under the debris.
Most of the dead are Israeli holidaymakers. About 120 people were injured in the bomb attacks at the Egyptian tourist resorts claimed Friday by a group saying it is part of the al-Qaeda network.
One Russian citizen was killed and eight were injured in the blasts, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday.
According to Egyptian and Israeli medical sources quoted by RIA-Novosti, seven Russian were still in hospital Saturday. - AFP
