Boss shares wealth with workers
Sydney - Capitalism has turned on the charm with a Melbourne bus company owner sharing his wealth with the workers.
Grenda Corporation founder Ken Grenda was dubbed Australia's best boss on Wednesday after his 1 800 staff learned they had shared $16m from the sale of the company.
Some thanked heaven and wept with joy when an average of $9 000 showed up in their accounts. Others rang in to report what they thought must have been a payroll or banking error, the Herald Sun reported.
"A business is only as good as its people and our people are fantastic," 79-year-old Grenda said. "We have had people here who are second generation and one fellow in the same job for 52 years."
Even better: Grenda has won from the new owners an undertaking that all staff will be kept on.
