Boy, 4, kills dad over PlayStation

2012-04-23 12:00

Riyadh - An angry 4-year-old Saudi boy shot and killed his father for refusing to buy him a PlayStation, Saudi media reported on Monday.

The Asharq daily, citing police in the southern Jizan area, said the child, aged 4 years and 7 months, grabbed his father's pistol and shot him in the head.

According to the newspaper, the child had asked his father to buy him a PlayStation and the shooting took place after the man returned home without the desired object.

As he was undressing, the man put the weapon down, which the child then grabbed and fired at him from close range.

Poor reporting at its best.....makes for ''juicy'' reporting to re-inforce stereotypes! How on earth can a four old child squeeze the trigger of the gun? Probably dropped the gun and it fired! Obvioulsy an accident which will haunt this poor child for life.....this is not funny!

  • IcemanGP - 2012-04-23 13:00

Let this be a lesson. Get your brats what they want, or you dead.

  • Gieljam - 2012-04-23 13:01

He must have been taught and shown how to use the gun but not how to be considering and selective on the target he was going to take out. Saw a real clip where similar thing happened because the father used his pistol at a wedding to show how he was enjoying it by firing shots in the air now and then and then placing the weapon on the chair next to him...

  • Gift - 2012-04-23 13:04

Father was negligent with da gun infront of a 4 year old

  • rmathee - 2012-04-23 13:17

heavy days! good thing its such a mission to get a gun in this country...

  • nathanjaysa - 2012-04-23 13:22

Neglected to use gun safety make it safe and put it in safe, if that was an pistol why did it have one in chamber and off from safety not to mention a 4year old cannot pull back that slide its impossible. I am sorry focus should be on the dad not the boy, news always makes it worse.. now the kid is marked for life due to the media's False accusation , its basically a freak accident and not the PlayStation issue, Media tends to always blame Game designers or Game consoles for allowing kids to play with it, and blame them for having so called violence, that's why there is age restrictions on them, again blame the negligence to the father if he allowed that 4 year old to play those games. Let this be a Lesson to Owners that fail to enforce gun safety in there home around there young ones, it could happen to you to.

  • JNaMolefe - 2012-04-23 13:39

Oh no! Life is impossible to kill a family relationship, to all parents, put ur guns away from ur child! This child might ve been watching on TV all day where his parents left him for work or something else. PUT UR GUNS AWAY! OR NEVER BUY GUNS FOR YOUR PROTECTION... In Saudi, there are strictly laws, if you kill someone, u will get hanged, why would his father got a gun? For his protection? oh yea, that doesn't make sense. Having a gun in the front of 4 years old child is not a good idea. His eyes are targeted to the gun that he might ve been dreamed of (Something is in his mind which is imagined), then killed his father. Rest in peace, his father :(
