Darwin, Australia - A teenager in Australia's Northern Territory made a narrow escape from the jaws of a crocodile that dragged him underwater, police said on Monday.
The 17-year-old boy was out hunting magpie geese at a remote waterhole on Saturday when he taken by the leg and dragged under the water by the reptile.
Witnesses said the 2.6 metre crocodile was thought to be a mother protecting her young.
The incident took place at remote Dhipirri near the Glyde River in Arnhem Land, the northern part of the territory.
The boy managed to break the grip of the crocodile's jaws and escape, but sustained four puncture wounds to his shin, thigh and calf.
He was treated for his injuries at a local health centre and then allowed to go home.
