Breast-painting draws Thai ministry's ire

Bangkok - Thailand's Ministry of Culture is investigating whether a TV talent show broke censorship laws for airing a young woman painting a canvas with her breasts, reports said on Tuesday.

The ministry summoned producers of Thailand's Got Talent programme to explain their decision to broadcast the segment of a 23-year-old contestant baring her breasts in a display of her unique painting technique, the Bangkok Post reported.

"Although the performance aims to show the contestants' skills, Thai society cannot accept a scene of a naked woman on air," Culture Minister Sukumol Khunploem said.

On the weekly talent show aired on Sunday night, Duangjai Jansaunoi, describing herself as an independent artist, drew a yellow outline of a man on a canvas, stripped off her shirt, poured paint over her breasts and filled in the picture.

The show, which was pre-recorded, blurred out the direct shot of Duangjai's breasts.

Two out of the three judges, both of them men, voted in favour of Duangjai moving on to the second round of the competition.

I would vote for her to continue as well. Sounds like a lot of fun.
