Car bomb kills one

Duchanbe/Moscow - A car bomb explosion Monday near a government building killed one person and injured four in the Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe, according to Russian officials.

The bomb was planted in a truck parked near the Civil Defence Ministry with reports that the blast blew out many of the ministry's windowpanes, as well as damaging several vehicles in the vicinity.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held at the end of February in the former Soviet Republic of Tajikistan.- Sapa-dpa
