Athens - A North Korean-flagged ship with a cargo of marble sank early on Saturday in the Aegean Sea after encountering rough weather, said Greek port officials.
The ship had issued a distress signal when it began listing on Friday and an operation was launched to rescue the 15 crew, who were all recovered safe and sound.
An oil tanker, which was also in the area, was involved in the three-hour rescue, officials said.
An investigation was underway to determine why the 1 400-ton Ostria, which was carrying marble from Egypt to Albania, sank off the island of Kassos.
