Washibgton - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced a new $150m in assistance to the Palestinian Authority on Wednesday and called for other donor countries to step up aid.

The new funding was described as budget support for the Palestinians and is separate from the $400m in aid that President Barack Obama pledged to the authority in June when he met with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas at the White House.

Clinton announced the new aid during a videolink meeting with Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad who was in Ramallah.
