Colombia landslide kills at least 7
Bogota - Colombian authorities say a landslide triggered by persistent heavy rains has killed at least seven people and left two missing in an Embera indigenous settlement in the country's northwest.
The national disaster relief agency says another six people disappeared and were feared killed by surging waters of the river Guachaca near the Caribbean coast.
Regional disaster relief chief Felix Giraldo said the Embera deaths occurred shortly after dawn on Friday in the San Lorenzo reserve.
Officials say more than 155 people have been killed in Colombia in the rainy season that began in September. That's nearly double the 80 lives claimed in the same season in 2010.
Neighbouring Venezuela and Central America have also been hit hard.
