Cop dogs bite protestors
London - Police in central England say protesters holding a rally at one of Britain's largest coal fired power stations suffered dog bites and other injuries in clashes.
Demonstrators said on Sunday that as many as 20 people were bitten by police dogs as officers attempted to stop protesters breaking in to the power plant. Three police officers were injured.
Nottinghamshire Police say about 1 000 people joined a protest at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, near the central England city of Nottingham.
A total of 52 people were arrested during the demonstration, which began on Saturday.
Campaigners say the plant is amongst the largest carbon emitters in Britain. The operator insists it is one of the country's most efficient coal fired plants.
