Cop gets life for child rape

Beijing - The former vice-head of a city-level public security bureau was sentenced to life in prison for accepting bribes and raping children forced into prostitution, state press reported on Monday.
Fu Long, former vice police chief of Liaoyang city in northeast Liaoning province, was sentenced by the intermediate court of neighboring Anshan city on Monday, the China News Service reported.
He was convicted of raping two children below the age of 14, who had been were forced into prostitution, resulting in the pregnancy of one of the girls, it said.
Fu was fully aware of the age of the girls, but had sex with them against their will while also accepting a 100 000 yuan (about R72 000) bribe to handle the fraud case of a local businessman, it said.
Lu Zongda, a head of a local enterprise, was earlier convicted and executed for sending girls to Liaoyang police as bribes, the report said.
Eight other policemen were also convicted in the case and received harsh punishment, the report said without specifying the sentences.
