Sao Paulo - Military police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse a crowd gathered on Saturday night at a shopping centre in Sao Paulo.

About 1 000 youths met in front of the shopping centre Itaquera in the eastern district of the city for a so-called rolezinho - a walk - the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo reported.

The event was an apparent flash mob organised on social media. Flash mobs have no particular purpose other than to get people together for fun and a bit of mischief without breaking any laws. A few weeks ago several shopping centres obtained temporary restraining orders against the flash mobs.
