Sydney - A Sydney postman's home was stuffed with thousands of letters he could not be bothered to deliver, Australian police said on Thursday.

"He delivered a certain amount of letters and once his shift was complete, if he didn't deliver all of the letters, there would be a situation that his job was done for the day," Detective Inspector Peter Yeomans told reporters.

"At this stage it would appear that he just hadn't delivered the letters."

The 38-year-old was sacked after his arrest on Wednesday. He was charged with interfering with the post.
