Cuba parliament meets, live-tweets session for 1st time

Havana - Cuba's parliament is holding one of its twice-annual regular sessions with a new twist: It's live-tweeting the proceedings for the first time.

Official media say President Raul Castro is attending the gathering.

State-run website Cubadebate reports that the body is considering a final budget report for 2014 and the status of Cuba's economic plan over the first half of this year.

Foreign journalists are not allowed access and the meeting is not televised.

But the National Assembly has a recentIy activated Twitter account and it's been carrying tweets about Wednesday's gathering, such as parliament president Esteban Lazo calling the body to order.
