Doctor steals hand from cadaver

New Brunswick - A doctor pleaded guilty on Thursday to stealing a cadaver's hand that was later found at the home of a stripper.
Ahmed Rashed, 26, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree theft. He admitted taking the hand while he was a medical school student in 2002.
Rashed is currently practicing medicine in Los Angeles. He will be prohibited from seeking a licence to practice medicine in New Jersey while on probation.
"It was certainly a unique case," Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Judson Hamlin said.
Rashed gave the left hand to Linda Kay, 31, while visiting the club of all-nude dancers where she worked.
"Our investigation revealed that she expressed an interest to him in acquiring one, and he followed through with her request," Hamlin said.
Police responded to report of a suicidal man at Kay's home and saw the severed hand in a jar on her dresser. The man was not found.
A grand jury indicted Kay on a receiving stolen property charge.
