Footage shows suspect in UK shooting
London - British police on Monday released CCTV footage of the chief suspect in the London shooting of Russian banker German Gorbuntsov, who remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Gorbuntsov, 45, was shot several times with a pistol on 20 March as he entered his apartment block near the Canary Wharf financial district.
The stills show the suspect, who is described as white, tall and slim, moments after the banker was gunned down.
"We are continuing to examine CCTV footage from the area and are keen to speak with anyone who may have information about the shooting," said Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor, who is leading the Metropolitan Police investigation.
Call to public
"Were you in Byng Street or nearby, shortly before or after 19:20 on Tuesday 20 March? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area?
"Did you see the man in the CCTV stills taking off a dark hooded top or leaving a bag?"
Scotland Yard is working with Russian police for the first time on a major criminal case since falling out over the poisoning of dissident Alexander Litvinenko in London in 2006.
There has been speculation in the Russian media that the attack was linked to an assassination attempt on Gorbuntsov's business partner and co-owner of the Konvers Group, Alexander Antonov, in 2009.
It has also been reported that Gorbuntsov was the target of several investigations by Moldovan prosecutors after a bank he owned, Universalbank, closed down in February.
