France donates to blast aid

Paris - France said on Tuesday it was giving €50 000 to the aid effort for the victims of North Korea's train blast that killed at least 150 people.

The money would go to a French non-governmental organisation, Premiere Urgence, for emergency humanitarian help such as health kits, hygiene needs and clothing, foreign ministry spokesperson Harve Ladsous.

The collision of two trains, one carrying fuel and the other ammonium nitrate, devastated nearly half the town of Ryongchon, which has a population of 120 000.
