Gaddafi 'agreed to fund Sarkozy campaign'

2012-04-28 18:19

Paris - Muammar Gaddafi's regime agreed to fund French President Nicolas Sarkozy's 2007 election campaign to the tune of €50m, a news website reported on Saturday, publishing what it said was documentary evidence.

The 2006 document in Arabic, which website Mediapart said was signed by Gaddafi's intelligence chief Musa Kusa, referred to an "agreement in principle to support the campaign for the candidate for the presidential elections, Nicolas Sarkozy, for a sum equivalent to €50m".

The left-wing investigative website made similar assertions on March 12, based on testimony by a former doctor of a French arms dealer alleged to have arranged the campaign donation, which Sarkozy slammed as "grotesque".

"If he had financed it, I wasn't very grateful," Sarkozy said sarcastically, in an apparent reference to the active role that France played in the NATO campaign that led to the strongman's ouster.

The latest report comes as Sarkozy trails Socialist rival Francois Hollande in opinion polls ahead of the run-off second round of presidential elections on May 6.

The gaddafies were raking in billions of Euros "commissions on Libyan oil sales. That lousy 50 milllion , was meant not to have any disruption to their racketeering !!

I can't be surprised by the allegation that state that Gadafi has funded Sarkozy on his election campain in 2007. The way he rush on attacking Libia was clearly shows that there is a hiden agenda. He was the first president to convince other countries to support UN resolution against Gadafi. The death of Gadafi was well planned by Nato led by France. Sarkozy must face the ICC for misleading the world. Bush and Tony Blair must also face the ICC for starting unnecessary war against Sadam.

The death of Gaddafi was unfortunately well planned by Gaddafi himself.

      Fred - 2012-04-29 01:11

Gaddafi killed, maimed, detained, tortured and raped tens of thousands of Libyans using their own military and their state resources, while ranting from his balcony that he would never submit, never hand over power, die fighting in Libya. Tragic, his death and what he did to Libyans. Libyans will soon vote for the first time ever, like we did in South Africa in 21994.

"Gaddafi killed, maimed, detained, tortured and raped tens of thousands of Libyans" How many thousands Fred, please do tell! You are a lying propagandist sock puppetry.

      Fidel - 2012-04-29 11:48

A GREAT LOSS to Africa indeed Brian!

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-04-29 12:46

Fidel, Just in 2011, that prostitute was responsible for the deaths of at least 30 000 ( THIRTY THOUSAND ) including his own !!!!

      Fred - 2012-04-29 20:05

Fidel, you're still among a tiny minority who support unelected and brutal tyrants. The world is moving on from that awful position, thankfully.

Tornado GR4 loaded with atomic tipped missiles terrorising the Gadaffi regime left right and centre, then some website alleges campaign funding? I don't believe it, should I?

      Mewik - 2012-04-29 09:49

The French airforce uses Mirage 2000 fighter bombers and Rafales. Tornados are used by the British, Germans and Italians. The funding is alleged to have taken place years before any bombs were dropped on Libya and could explain Mr Sarkozy's eagerness to bomb them off the face of the earth.

      Fidel - 2012-04-29 11:51

It was Sarkozy indeed who wanted to and led the bombing of Libya. This had absolutely nothing to do with the so called democracy.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-04-29 13:12

Fidel, Let me just go slowly and explain what happened.... as through frustration of not understanding, you continiously make up your own stories. EVERY country in the world, has people who don't agree with their leaderrship, and would like to change it. In Libya, that fruitcake, caled them "rebels" and "rats" That mass murderer in Syria calls them "terrorists" But in almost the entire world, including Russia, Iran and Venezuela, they call them :OPPOSITION. I hope you are following me this far>>> Now in Libya, they also had opposition. For 41 years, there was opposition to this ditator. But this thug, did not like this at all, so he had them arrested, beaten up, imprisoned and many killed. At the time of the uprising, there were prisons with tens of thousands locked up, no , not thieves, murderers or rapist, no, they committed a far worse crime; the did not like gaddafi !!! When freedom eventualy came to Libya, they found mass graves and shallow unmarked graves scattered around Libya. In February 2011, THOUSANDS of UNARMED OPPOSITIOMN members went onto the streets of Benghazi. ( Your Russian friends confirm this !!) What happened next, you surely must know; This gaddafi went beserk, he went f.cking crazy, he showed the world that he was not only a DICTATOR/TYRANT/MURDERER, but also a PSYCHOPATH Just mention, just ONE, elected government in Africa, that regards this prostitute to be a hero of Africa !!!!
