Riyadh - A German national was shot dead in eastern Riyadh on Saturday, a security guard at the scene said, becoming the seventh Westerner to be killed in Saudi Arabia this month.
An employee at the Arab National Bank told journalists the victim was in front of the bank in the Al-Hamra neighbourhood of the Saudi capital when the shooting occurred at around 18:00 (15:00 GMT).
The victim worked for Saudi Arabian Airlines, the security guard said.
On May 1, six Westerners were killed when gunmen went on a shooting spree at a petrochemical plant in the Red Sea industrial port of Yanbu. They worked for ABB Lummus, a US affiliate of European engineering group ABB.
Two Americans, two Britons and an Australian died on the spot. A Canadian died later of wounds sustained in the attack.
About 1 400 Germans live in Saudi Arabia.
