Haiti bus accident kills 17
Port-au-Prince - A bus packed with passengers collided with a heavy transport vehicle in southern Haiti on Saturday, killing 17 people, police officials said.
The collision took place "in a turn obstructed by a car frame burnt by protesters during last Sunday's elections", police superintendent Rony Ceneac told AFP.
"Seventeen of the 18 bus passengers were killed on the spot."
The surviving passenger was brought to hospital severely wounded.
The November 28 presidential and legislative elections were marred by fraud allegations that sparked violence between supporters of the 18 candidates for the country's highest post.
